Freshman Brian Wardle nailed a 3-pointer with four seconds left in regulation to send the game into overtime. Marquette scored all 15 points in the extra period to take a 75-60 win over Auburn in the second round of the NIT before 8,692 at the Bradley Center. Auburn led 60-55 with 24 seconds to play. Marquette's Aaron Hutchins drove the length of the court for a layup with 19 seconds to play to trim the lead to 60-57. Bryant Smith was then fouled with 11 seconds to play and missed the front end of a one-and-one to set up Marquette's heroics. The Golden Eagles scored the final 20 points of the game. Marquette led by as much as 20-11 with 8 minutes left in the first half before the Tigers went on a 24-10 run to close the half at 35-30. Scott Pohlman, who led Auburn with 19 points, made a trey to open the second half and give the Tigers a 38-30 lead. Marquette then scored 10 straight points to go out in front 40-38. Jarrod Lovette led Marquette with 18 points while Wardle added 12.
