Eddie Nunez

Wrapping up his first year during the 2000-01 campaign as Special Assistant is Eddie Nunez. Nunez's primary duties are the coordination of Marquette's video efforts, team travel and on-campus recruiting.

Nunez, who hails from Miami, came to the Marquette program after spending four seasons as a member of the University of Florida program. Nunez played two years for the Gators (1996-97 through 1997-98) and spent the 1998-99 and 1999-2000 campaigns as a graduate assistant and head equipment manager. As a player, he was a two-time member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll. During his stint as a member of the UF staff, he was part of a program that won 51 games while advancing to the 2000 NCAA Championship Game.

“Eddie comes very highly recommended from Billy Donovan's staff,” said Crean upon Nunez's hiring. He has been involved in every facet of Florida's program, both as a player and learning the coaching profession for the past two years. We are excited to have him. He has a tremendous future in the game.“

“The opportunity of working for Coach Crean and the Marquette program is a great opportunity,” said Nunez of his appointment. “I'm eager to put to use the things that I learned at Florida and help the Marquette program continue its ascension and improvement.”

Prior to enrolling at Florida, Nunez attended Miami Dade Kendall CC for two years. He was a regular member of the starting lineup as a sophomore and helped that team to an overall record of 21-9. His performance earned him a spot on the Southern Conference All-Star Team and he was recognized for his effort in the classroom, capturing Academic All-Southern Conference accolades.

“Eddie was very loyal and committed to the Florida program and there is no doubt that he will bring that same type of loyalty and commitment to Marquette,” stated Donovan. “He is a hard-working, young coach who will certainly do well there.”
