Following three straight road losses ([[Michigan]], Chicago and [[Northwestern]]), [[Michigan State]] returned hom for a thrilling win over Marquette.  It was the first match-up within the newly-formed Central Intercollegiate Conference (Marquette, [[Notre Dame]], [[Butler]], and [[Michigan State]]).  With the Hilltoppers leading 30-28, [[Michigan State]]'s Monty Hood dribbled the length of the floor and tossed in the tying basket with two second remaining.

Then, within the five-minute overtime, Marquette was outscored 5-3, for the 35-33 victory.
