====== 1998-99 Season ====== Coach: [[Mike Deane]]\\ Record: 14-15\\ Final RPI: 129\\ Captains: [[Mike Bargen]], [[Jarrod Lovette]]\\ Leading Scorer: [[Brian Wardle]] - 12.3ppg\\ Leading Rebounder: [[Mike Bargen]]- 5.4 rpg\\ Mike Deane's team played four ranked opponents during the 1998-99 season, winning just one of those contests. The team finished with a losing record and failed to make either the NIT or NCAA tournaments. Although widely considered to be a very good game coach, with the bulk of [[Kevin O'Neill]]'s recruits gone, Deane's recruiting deficiencies became apparent. Deane commented publicly that a school like Marquette should be happy to make occasional post-season appearances. Marquette didn't agree and showed Deane the door. ===== Schedule ===== ^DATE ^ OPPONENT ^ RESULT ^ RECORD ^ NOTES ^ |11/14/1998 |at [[Boston College]] |W 70-49 |1-0 | | |11/16/1998 |[[Morgan State]]
