Doc totaled 1234 career points (25th all time), 409 assists (7th all time) and 203 steals (3rd all time) in his career at Marquette.
Doc was drafted in the second round of the 1983 NBA Draft by the Atlanta Hawks. He played his first 8 seasons with the Hawks before having stints with the Clippers, Knicks and Spurs. Doc averaged 10.9 points, 5.7 assists and 3.0 rebounds a game in his 13 NBA seasons. Of his 13 seasons Doc advanced to the playoffs in 10 of them.
Doc started his coaching career with the Orlando Magic where he coached for 4+ seasons and compiled a 171-168 record including three playoff berths. He is now employed as the head coach of the Boston Celtics. He also served as the assistant coach for the USA Men's Basketball team that won the gold medal at the 2001 Good-Will Games.
