===== High School Career =====

As a senior, Hatchett led his Aurora West High team to a 22-4 record and the Upstate Eight Conference title as well as an Illinois regional title. He was named MVP of the Upstate Eight Conference and an All-State choice. He averaged 20 ppg and 6 apg.

As a junior, he led his team to a 30-3 record and another conference title. That year, they were runner-up in the state tournament.

His single game scoring high was 32 points.

Hatchett was twice named to the All-Conference team.

He also was the president of the student body at his school and an honor student.

Coach [[Hank Raymonds]] said Hatchett was a "zone breaker" in the mold of Gary Rosenberger.
