Campbell led Gordon Tech to a 31-7 record, the Catholic League championship and second place in the Chicago city race.  He averaged 17 ppg and was named to the //Chicago Tribune// and //Chicago Sun-Times// all-star teams.

Campbell finished as the team's second leading scorer and rebounder (to [[Maurice Lucas]]).

[[Hank Raymonds]], coach of the Freshman Team, said the following about Campbell: "He's a hard nosed type player, a Brian Brunkhorst type. Very tough around the basket, with a better than average jump shot up to 15 feet. Strong physically."
