Ray Morstadt led Marquette in scoring from 1933-35 and also served as team captain during the 1934-35 campaign. He also was the first Marquette player to average in double figures in a single season with a 10.9 scoring average in 1934-35. He averaged 9.6 ppg in his first year and 8.5 ppg in his second year.
Morstadt was nicknamed “Nanook,” because of the heavy fur coat he could often be found wearing around campus.
