-===== Recap =====+===== Golden Eagles Claw To Victory Over Seton Hall =====
 +
+It wasn't pretty, but at this point of the season there are no style points.
 +
+Getting double-figure scoring from five players, the Marquette Golden Eagles overcame horrendous shooting from both the free-throw line and three-point range and more turnover troubles to defeat the Seton Hall Pirates, 73-64, on Saturday night at the Bradley Center.
 +
+Jimmy Butler scored 16 points to lead MU (16-11, 7-7 Big East Conference), which entered having lost two straight games and probably needing to win at least four of its final five to set itself up for an NCAA Tournament bid.
 +
+Jae Crowder added 12 points and nine rebounds, Darius Johnson-Odom and Dwight Buycks had 11 points each, and Chris Otule had 10 points and eight rebounds as the Golden Eagles won despite going 16 for 26 from the free-throw line (61.5%), 3 for 12 from three-point range (25%) and turning the ball over 15 times.
 +
+MU took the court with a markedly different look, as coach Buzz Williams replaced Buycks with Junior Cadougan at point guard and Crowder with Joseph Fulce at power forward.
 +
+"Changed it up," said Williams. "I love all of them, don't think we have a bad player on our roster. It was nothing Buycks did, it was nothing Jae did. 'Let's change it up.' Junior was as good as he's been, and Joe was a great traffic rebounder."
 +
+The changes didn't have much of an effect in the opening minutes, though, as Otule stole the show early with a dominating performance in the paint.
 +
+The sophomore center scored all 10 of his points in the first 10 minutes 51 seconds, overpowering the smallish Pirates (11-16, 5-10) with point-blank layups or dunks coming off penetration by MU guards or offensive boards.
 +
+"I just think he's getting better," Williams said. "He's growing, he's figuring it out. He really wants to be a good player. He's spending a lot of time in the (practice) gym. I just think he's kind of coming into his own in that, 'I understand.' "
 +
+An exchange between Otule and Williams in the pregame shoot-around set the stage for the Texan's hot start.
 +
+"I had my hands on my knees and he hates when guys have hands on their knees," the soft-spoken Otule said. "He came at me, and I came back at him."
 +
+Even with Otule's strong play, Seton Hall hung right with MU as the Golden Eagles hit just one of their first five free throws to leave the door ajar. In fact, after Jeff Robinson's jumper, the Pirates led, 29-24, and the crowd of 18,436 began to grow restless.
 +
+A three-pointer from the right corner by Johnson-Odom got MU back on track, though, and ultimately sparked a 12-3 run over the final 4:46 that sent the Golden Eagles into the locker room with a 36-32 lead.
 +
+The second half opened strangely when official Chris Beaver was unable to take the court after straining his calf in the first half.
 +
+Veterans Pat Driscoll and Michael Stephens picked up the slack as the two teams went back and forth, with Seton Hall getting as close at 48-45 after a Fuquan Edwin jumper with 11:46 remaining.
 +
+Complicating matters was foul trouble for Otule, as Williams replaced him with freshman Davante Gardner.
 +
+Two Buycks free throws at the 10:47 mark helped get the Golden Eagles back on track both at the line and in the game, however.
 +
+MU used an 18-5 run to stretch its lead to 66-50, sparked by six points from Butler and five from Gardner. The Golden Eagles regained their touch at the charity stripe as well, hitting 14 of their final 16 to close out the game.
 +
+MU was just 2 for 10 from the free-throw line in the first half.
 +
+MU also out-rebounded Seton Hall, 40-22, and got 30 points off its bench compared with seven for the Pirates.
 +
+Seton Hall's Jeremy Hazell scored 23 points to lead all scorers.
 +
+Otule's 10 points were a high for him in Big East play, and with Gardner's seven points and six boards, the center duo combined for 17 points and 14 rebounds, continuing their strong recent play.
 +
+"Chris didn't make any free throws in the first half, but it was by far the most dominating performance he's had in a game, much less a half," Williams said. "I thought that Davante was the swing vote in the second half. He really played well."
 +
+Rev. Robert A. Wild, the MU president, was honored in a halftime ceremony celebrating his retirement. Wild will leave this summer after 15 years as the school's 22nd president.
