6/2/2008 - Wisconsin Sports Network By Mark Miller Wishoops.net Editor
Jamil Wilson, 6-7, F, Racine Horlick (Playground Elite) My choice for Most Valuable Player of the 17U bracket, Wilson was simply outstanding while leading the Playground Elite to a 69-56 victory over Team NLP of Chicago in the title game. Whether he was swatting shots, using his length to defend on the perimeter and in the post, running the team from the point-guard position or making shots, Wilson showed why he is so highly regarded with his dominating play in the second half of the contest against Team NLP. Wilson scored 17 points in the title-game victory and did a great job of shutting down rugged 6-foot-3 Lenzelle Smith of Zion-Benton, Ill., during the final 10 minutes of the contest. Wilson was somewhat quiet during the Playground Elite’s lopsided victories in the quarterfinal and semifinal rounds, but his play in the title game was stellar.
