Lacy received heavy recruiting interest from Marquette under former coach Tom Crean, which led to an offer in 2007. According to Lacy's high school coach, Buzz Williams has stated that he will honor that offer, but Marquette has not been showing as much interest as of late.

Lacy led a young Milwaukee Bay View team this year to a record of 8-14 and averaging 21.71 points per game.

A member of the nationally known Playground Elite, Johnnie plays with other top Wisconsin Juniors including Jamil Wilson, Jeronne Maymon, Luke Russell, and Eric Williams. In their most recent tournament, the Arizona Cactus Classic, Johnnie led the team to the final four while averaging 18.7 points per game.

Johnnie Lacy, 5-10, PG/WG, Milwaukee Bay View (Playground Elite) Lacy once again showed tremendous quickness with the ball in his hands as he repeatedly got to the rim and finished over bigger defenders while also knocking down his share of perimeter jump shots. Lacy can play either guard spot and is extremely difficult to contain in a one-on-one situation because of his quickness and ability to change gears repeatedly on drives to the hoop.

Lacy is nearly ‘unguardable’ off the dribble as he possess excellent quickness and burst along with wiry strength that allows him to absorb contact and actually finish against bigger opponents. He also does a nice job of penetrating and finding teammates once he gets inside the defense. Lacy’s leaping ability is also underrated as he hit several hanging, hitting type of shots during the day. Lacy is definitely worthy of looks from mid-majors and perhaps bigger schools especially if he continues to grow. He had 12 points in limited minutes (because of the margin) and had 21 points in an extremely competitive game against the Michigan Hurricanes later in the day against intense pressure from Delano Collins and Demetrius Ford, who were both outstanding in that ball game. -The Hensley Memorial Run n’ Slam

Johnnie Lacy can put the ball in the basket!!! Lacy is a dynamic scorer who can create his own shot and can get into the lane at will. He is a streaky 3-point shooter, but when he is on, he is tough to stop. Lacy is a very good athlete and he is strong with the ball. He is old for his class (2009) and he needs to become a little better as a floor leader. With his size, he plays the point, but has a scorers mentality at that position. He needs to work on nuances of the position and needs to learn when to try to score and when to get others involved. He has speed, quickness and is tough to stop when he wants to get in the paint. He also has a chance to become a great on-the-ball defender. -ESPN

We saw Lacy play in an event in Milwaukee last month and we came away highly impressed with both his quickness and shooting ability and after seeing him a second time this weekend in Akron, we are completely sold on this guy. In Playground Elite’s quarterfinal-loss to tournament runner-up Rising Stars, Lacy scored more than half his team’s points and finished with 36. He is high on Marquette despite the recent coaching change, but also lists Tennessee, Wisconsin, Minnesota and Cincy. -hoopsreport.com
