The men's basketball team wasn't the only ranked team at Marquette in 1977, as MU's cheerleaders were ranked 20th by the International Cheerleading Foundation. They were the only basketball cheerleading team to make the rankings. The men's captain was Paul Pachniak and the girl's captain was Adrianne Sobilo. The squad also included Jim “Stump” Calhoun (no relation to the UCONN coach) and the legendary Gail Pudvan.
