MILWAUKEE – Over 4,000 fans packed the Al McGuire Center for Marquette Madness, and were treated to quite the show.
In the men's intrasquad scrimmage, the Blue team claimed a 49-43 victory against the White team. Freshman JaJuan Johnson led all scorers with 12 point. He also added six assists, while Juan Anderson and Davante Gardner added 11 apiece. Jamil Wilson provided two highlight-reel dunks en route to his nine points. Todd Mayo was also very active, scoring 10 points.
The Marquette women's basketball team scrimmaged against each other for 12 minutes. Katherine Plouffe and Ashley Santos scored six points apiece for the Blue team, while Apiew Ojulu led the White Team with eight points. Arlesia Morse also tallied seven points in the scrimmage for the White team.
A Marquette Madness “Lifetime Achievement” award was presented to men's basketball senior Chris Otule, which included a special video tribute. Otule thanked the fans for their support. Head coach Buzz Williams also spoke at length about Otule's journey at Marquette.
In the 3-point contest, Jake Thomas defeated Davante Gardner by making 22 three-point baskets in only one minute.
Freshman Deonte Burton claimed the dunk contest title, throwing down many thunderous slams on the evening.
