Analysis

ESPN Evaluation

May, 2009: Cedrick has good quickness, strength and average athleticism, but the type of player with a very good understanding and feel for the game. During the Southern Invitational he showed a good touch in the mid game and consistently knocked down the perimeter jump shot. He displayed the ability to drive the ball to the basket by using his strength to create scoring opportunities. In transition he does a good job in surveying the floor and locating teammates in the open floor. He competes at a high level of intensity and it really shows on the defensive end. On the ball he plays physical and does a good job moving his feet and containing dribble penetration. Off the ball he has to improve and like most young players he has a tendency to ball watch. His offense is currently behind his defense but he has the tools. He is a 2-guard with point guard size. Could be solid contributor at the mid major level.

April, 2009: Though he's the size of a point guard, Lindsey plays better off the ball as a shooting guard. He has a very reliable jumper with range that extends out to the 3-point line. He has a very quick release and often releases the ball before defenders can run him off the 3-point line. He also possesses enough quickness to get to the rim when opposing guards press up on him. He will improve his offensive game by adding a mid-range, pull-up jumper to his game as well as creating more offense for his teammates. Lindsay plays a very tough brand of basketball and defends very well, placing good pressure on opposing ballhandlers.

January, 2009: Lindsay has good, but not electrifying quickness off the dribble. However, he does have a good amount of strength, which he uses to his advantage when he looks to score the basketball. Lindsay has the ability to use his adequate quickness and good strength to overpower smaller, weaker guards on his way to the rim. Once in the paint, Lindsay has a nice assortment of floaters that he uses to get points when he cannot get to the rim. At this point, he ranks as a scoring point guard and needs to improve his ability to involve his teammates, though when he does look for his teammates, Lindsay does a decent job of locating them for open shots. Lindsay uses his strength and quickness to pressure opposing ball-handlers into fatigue and turnovers.

June, 2008: Lindsay is a talented combo-guard who is very effective on both ends of the floor. He is a very good on-the-ball defender who excels at containing the dribbler. Offensively, he can both shoot the ball from the perimeter and attack the basket. A very good three-point shooter off both the catch and the dribble, Lindsay is also very proficient at using a shot fake to lift his defender so that he can escape with one dribble and pull-up. It is rare that Lindsay creates a large amount of separation from his defender when attacking off the dribble, although he is often able to get on the defender's hip, carve out a path to the rim, and score in stride with a running floater or pass off the bounce. Physically, he already has a very strong upper body, although he may be done growing. If that is the case, he will have to become a full time point guard. Although he is currently more of a combo guard, he should be able to make that adjustment since he already has a good handle (he is rattled by pressure only rarely) and does a nice job of advancing the ball up the floor with the pass.
