Marquette had a special run in 1997, winning four CUSA Tournament games in four days to win the automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. Marquette played five games against top-25 programs, winning three of those match-ups. MU lost to Providence in the first round of the NCAA tournament, when Austin Croshere scored 10,000 points, which killed Marquette.
